Hi everyone and Happy April! This is a message to let you know what changes are being made to the website. First of all, we are adding a “Pet Application” to the website. The answers that you provide for our questions help us match up the right puppy for you. The questions are not meant to be overwhelming or intimidating, it will just save us a lot of typing in emails! Plus, we want to make sure that our puppies or adult dogs are going to homes just as special as they are.

We are also adding a bunch of resources that will help those who are in search of the right puppy for them. These resources will help them understand the history of the Yorkshire Terrier, as well as the breed itself.

Hi everyone - I am letting visitors to the site know that there are several puppies available, males and females in all different ages (from 12 weeks to 7 months). Prices range from $500 - $1750. There are some puppies that will be “smaller” (3-5 range) and there are some that will be “bigger.” (5-7 lb. range) If you are interested, and would like some more information, visit the Contact page and tell us exactly what you are looking for — male or a female, the size that you are looking for when it is full grown, and the price range that you want to stay in. Today, Mini Pearl was put to sleep.  For those of you who didn’t know MP, she was one of our babies that was born about 7 or 8 months ago.  While her siblings grew up healthy and strong, she remained small, scrawny and at 8 months of age, only weighed 1.5 pounds.  We never let her go to her forever home (despite dozens of requests) because we were afraid that since she was so small she would get sick or something would go wrong.  So she became our house-pet and she captured everyone’s hearts with her tiny cute face and tiny tongue kisses.  It has been touch and go with MP since she was just a baby, each day being unpredictable with sugar drops, diarrhea and general bad days.   All those who met MP instantly fell in love with her.

About two months ago, Mini Pearl came down with a nasty respiratory infection.  We did everything we usually did, following normal protocol with puppies in the same situation.  But, for some reason, Mini was not getting better.  Her appetite decreased, her spunk disappeared, and she just looked down-right miserable.   So, since she wasn’t getting better, we decided to take her to our vet, Butler Animal Hospital and see what was going on inside that little body of hers, and the news wasn’t good.  It turned out that MP had an enlarged heart, and it was already pressing on her trachea, causing her difficult in breathing.  We mistook her difficulty in breathing for the resp. infection.  Since then, she has gradually gone downhill, and Dr. Mike at Butler A.H. estimated her to only live for about another 4 months or less.

Today, MP just wasn’t feeling well.  She started the day off with a sugar drop, and she got up and going from that, mom and I collectively decided it was time to end the pain.  Such a sweet baby didn’t deserve to go through each day in pain and suffering.  I took her back to Dr. Mike and we quietly put her to sleep.  There was no sound - no indication from MP that anything was different than any other day.  Dr. Mike said she didn’t feel anything and just went to sleep.

Mini Pearl will be missed by everyone.  She has finally crossed the Rainbow Bridge into doggie heaven.

I am now taking deposits on my puppies that were born on New Years Day.  They will not be ready to go until March 15th, but I am now taking reservations on them.  There are 2 females and 1 male available.  One female is most likely going to be in the 6.5-7 pound range ($850), the second female is likely going to be smaller, in the 5-5.5 pound range ($1100), and their brother is a chunker!  I am estimating he’ll be in the 7.5-8 lb range ($675).  The mother is black and tan and weighs 5.25 and the sire has 70+ champions in his immediate lines (he is from a show kennel in Indiana) and he weighs about 4.75 lbs.  He is black and silver.  If you are interested, please email me, (Rachel) at srlove07@gmail.com and I would be more than happy to send pictures!  You can also call me at 865-591-0015. Hooray! My girl, Glory, just had her litter of puppies this morning at 10:00!  She had two girls and a boy and they are so beautiful.  New Years puppies!  You’ll never ever forget their birthday.  We will being taking deposits on them in the next couple of weeks.  Both parents have champion bloodlines — Glory has Yorkmont/Burgundy  in her lines and the dad, Johnny Bravo has over 70+ champions including Stardust and a few more, in his immediate lines.  These guys should be ready to go around the middle to end of March.  We do not sell puppies before 12 weeks of age.  If you think you might be interested, you can email me at srlove07@gmail.com or just use the email form on the main website, ayorkieisforever.com.

Hi Everyone! Right now it is 1:17 AM — just an hour and seventeen minutes into the newest year of the century - 2008! I  want to congratulate everyone for sticking it out another year and hanging in there!  I think 2008 will be extra great.  We all have lots to be thankful for.  Pray for stronger relationships, higher salaries, and healthier bodies.

What are your resolutions?  I know some people don’t believe in making resolutions because sometimes its a burden to keep up with losing weight, making more money or what have you, but this year, I have made a few personal resolutions that I am going to try my darndest to keep and strive all year round.  The first one is to simply get healthy.  I do have a few pounds to lose, and I’ve had lots of inspiration lately, but I’m not going to tie myself down to any number.  Just get healthy and make better choices.  That can’t be too hard to incorporate into my daily life.  Good luck with whatever you decide to do and I hope you stick to it! Its easy to get sidetracked and put certain priorities on the back burner.

Samuel and I have adopted a young female Yorkie from a couple that has a really bad skin condition.  Not quite sure what’s wrong with her, but we’ve taken her in and we haven’t named her yet.  She’s 4 months old and she’s a tiny fart!  I don’t think she’ll be much bigger than 3 or 4 lbs.  She has lost a lot of her hair, so we’re going to try and fix her up.  Wish us luck!

Hello everyone!  I do hope that everyone had a marvelous Christmas holiday.  I hope everyone got to spend a lot of quality time with their family and I hope everyone treated their furry pets well!  I know that our family had a wonderful time together.  I also wanted to congratulate the wonderful families that got to take home a furbaby for themselves or loved ones for Christmas!  I know there was a bunch of happy faces on Christmas day.

On a different note, I have some GREAT NEWS!  Remember the previous posts talking about my husband’s sister Haley, whose precious dogs were poisoned by antifreeze?  Well, on January 2nd, 2008 Haley and her mother are meeting with our state senator, the vice president of the Humane Society in Nashville at our capitol building and there will be lots of media coverage and publicity!  We are so proud of her.

If you haven’t seen Haley’s story, then you can see the news interview on YouTube, and then after you see the video, it would be wonderful if you could sign her online petition, which she will be taking with her when she sees the senator in a few days.  Everyone, please keep her in your prayers!  :D  Happy New Years!!
